Tuerk House Mosaic Wall

Baltimore Clayworks

Posted –  January 08, 2013

The Tuerk House Men worked together to create a beautiful wall mosaic in November 2012 in the Ashburton neighborhood of Baltimore. Baltimore Clayworks' Community Arts Co-Director and teaching artist Herb Massie works with the men of the 3.3 recovery program at the Tuerk House, teaching skills in handbuilding, mosaic, casting among other clay techniques.  Most often they work in their Clay for All studio at the Tuerk House, but for this project participants where able to get out in the neighborhood, to work on building beautiful artwork for their neighbors to enjoy. Throughout the project many of the men expressed how they appreciated being out in the community, and having the opportunity to give back.
